Valery has a strong interest in developing programs that highlight contemporary orchestral music from Latin America. She is a Mexican American who sees the beauty of offering Latin American music to concert halls around the world.

In the 2024 season, her guest conducting programs include works by Mexican composer Juan Pablo Contreras.
